Celta started brightly but Madrid dominated for the remainder of the match, bar a flurry of late activity as the home side desperately went in search of an equaliser.
Ronaldo put his team in front in the 61st minute after the ball kindly dropped to him in the area, but Celta striker Iago Aspas leveled against the run of play just two minutes later.
The Portuguese forward converted a spot kick earned by Kaka in the 72nd for the winner for his 26th league goal of the season.
