Messi v Ronaldo in the ultimate match-up! Artist who uses FOOTBALL as paintbrush shows off pictures of star rivals

Artists have been known to use any number of instruments to apply paint to a canvas.

The conventional paintbrush, a pallet knife, a sponge and even a finger have been used to create fine pieces of art.
But this football mad painter has used a different tool to pay tribute to two of the world's greatest players.

Polish artist Andrew Lenard posted two astounding videos on his YouTube channel of him dipping a football in a black solution before kicking it against a blank, wall-mounted canvas.
After making the initial marks on the board, Lenard picks the ball up to capture the finer details of his subjects.
Although it takes a while to make out what the talented artist is painting, he eventually sketches accurate images of Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and his Barcelona counterpart Lionel Messi.
Lenard told the MailOnline: 'I do many different kinds of art and these movie projects are just my experiments.

'Sportsmen like Ronaldo and Messi are known worldwide modern heroes and role models, so it was an obvious pick for me.'
A similar portrayal of sports stars has been attempted before though.
Shanghai-based basketball fan Yi Hong painted NBA legend Yao Ming last year.
Similarly to these portraits, she used only red paint and a basketball to depict her favourite sportsman.
