Why Terry won't cut it as Chelsea boss: 'You can't expect players to listen when you’re telling them not to do things you’ve been doing all your life’, blasts Marsh

John Terry will never make it as a manager because his players will never respect him, according to Rodney Marsh.
The Chelsea captain is a shock 50-1 shout to be the next manager at Stamford Bridge in the wake of interim boss Rafa Benitez’s rant at the club and its fans following a 2-0 FA Cup win over Middlesbrough.
But Manchester City and QPR legend Marsh believes Terry’s personal life has got in the way of him ever becoming a top manager.

‘I would be shocked if John Terry took over at Chelsea. I don’t think he’ll ever make it as a football manager,’ he told talkSPORT.

‘The history he’s got and the problems he’s had with Chelsea and England (would make it hard).
‘I don’t think you can expect players to listen when you’re telling them not to do things you’ve been doing all your life.’
Terry has caused controversy throughout his career with a string of extra-marital affairs, including allegations of an affair with team-mate Wayne Bridge’s ex-partner.

He was banned for four games and fined £220,000 after being found guilty by the FA last year for racially insulting QPR's Anton Ferdinand.
The incidents have seen Terry stripped of the England captaincy on two separate occasions, with the defender retiring from international football after the FA inquiry over the Ferdinand incident in September last year.
Terry was this week at the centre of rumours of a bust-up with Benitez following Sunday’s defeat to Manchester City, before the Chelsea boss’ venting of frustration towards disgruntled fans last nights.
Marsh, 68, left his job at Sky Sports in 2005 following a joke about the tsunami in Asia.
